Cambridge Public Library Presents Neel Mukherjee, the Author of Choice

5/2/20244 weeks ago

On Wednesday, May 15, from 6-7:30 p.m., the Cambridge Public Library will welcome Neel Mukherjee for a conversation about his new novel, Choice. This event is hybrid and registration is required.

Choice unfolds in three thematically linked sections, each exploring the question of choice. How free are we really to make our own choices?

Jonathan Lee of the New York Times says, “Mukherjee is brilliant at tracing the ways a choice deferred becomes a fate sealed. But the book’s tripartite structure is even better at showing how we graze one another’s lives with our decisions, some of which may be catastrophic for our conscience but beneficial for our art…a strangely uplifting, exquisitely droll heartbreaker of a book.”

Neel Mukherjee is the author of four novels, including The Lives of Others, shortlisted for the Booker Prize; and A State of Freedom, a New York Times Notable Book. He is currently a professor of Creative Writing at Harvard University. He divides his time between London, England, and Cambridge, Massachusetts.

This event is cosponsored by the Cambridge Public Library Foundation. Copies of Choice will be available for purchase at the event.
