Join the Cambridge Pedestrian Committee for its fourth annual summer walk! This year we will be exploring some hidden gems of the Alewife area, as well as learning about recent and upcoming developments.
The walk will depart at 9:30 AM sharp from Alewife Station (please arrive between 9:15-9:30). From there we will head down the Fitchburg Cutoff Bikepath to the wetlands area, where we will be given a brief introduction by a city staff member on the wetlands project, followed by a walk around the wetlands.
Next we will take a stroll down Cambridge Park Drive, discussing new and future developments in the area north of the MBTA commuter railway, known as “The Triangle”. We will then turn north past Alewife Station for a walk around Discovery Park and learn about new developments along Route 2. We will have a chance to pause in a mini-park for a break. The walk will conclude back at the entrance to Alewife Station on Steel Place. The pace of the walk will be leisurely, and the entire length is about 2.5 miles.
There is no registration required, simply show up and enjoy an educational walk around one of the most interesting and different areas of Cambridge! Light snacks will be provided. To see previous years' walks, click here.
