Dino Dig (Valente)

Join us at the Valente library for some dinosaur fun! It's your turn to be a paleontologist: use a chisel and brush to excavate your own tiny dinosaur. We'll play dinosaur trivia and look at dinosaur books!
All supplies provided by the library. Recommended for ages 5+. Dinosaur coloring pages will be provided for younger children. Registration is required for each participating child.

From White Folks Who Teach in the Hood Book Talk (Main)

In August of 2024, Dr. Chris Emdin and Sam Seidel released From White Folks Who Teach in the Hood, a timely companion to the New York Times bestseller For White Folks Who Teach in the Hood...and the Rest of Y'all Too. This release is the white teachers guide to effective multicultural, anti-racist pedagogy. Designed for educators by educators From White Folks provides a compilation of over twenty powerful personal narratives from white teachers of Black and Brown children. Of the over twenty essays, several feature Cambridge raised authors, including Sam Seidel. This event will highlight the book and feature several of the Cambridge raised authors, reflecting on their careers in education and how their experiences growing up in Cambridge influenced them. This program is coponsored by the Library.

Sewing 101 (Main)
In this 90-minute workshop, you’ll learn the basics of sewing machine operation and safety. This session will cover machine setup, basic functions, threading the machine, reloading the bobbin, sewing straight stitches, and recognizing when stitch tension has gone awry. We’ll also cover some safety best practices when operating a sewing machine. As we learn together, we’ll work on a simple sewing project—a drawstring bag—which most students will be able to complete by the end of the class. You must complete Hive Safety Training before registering for this workshop.

Put on your dancing shoes and head over for a morning of singing and dancing! We'll sing and move together, and share a story or two. For children of all ages and their grown-ups.

Join us for a new hour-long program, featuring thirty minutes of songs and stories and thirty minutes of open play! No tickets required. This program is recommended for children ages 0-5 and their caregivers.

Looking for some basic computer or mobile device guidance? Want help using an online resource? Drop in tech help at Main can assist you with signing up for low-cost home internet, setting up your computer or mobile device, making an email account, navigating websites or databases, and other basic technology assistance. If you would like assistance with a device, please bring the device, all cords, and any account information. Library staff cannot be held responsible for damage to patron-owned equipment. We invite children and their grown-ups to join us for 20-25 minutes of songs, stories and rhymes. Due to Early Voting, this week's Story Time will take place in the Children's Area of the Valente Branch Library. Toddler Story Time (Main)
We invite children and their caregivers for 20-25 minutes of stories and songs. Designed for children 18 months to 3 years and their caregivers. This program can accommodate 45 people. Tickets are available on a first come, first served basis on the day of the program. The entire party must be present to receive a ticket. This program starts promptly. Wellness for Older Adults: Let Your Yoga Dance (Main)
A fun, dynamic, and ultimately blissful class. Work your way through the seven energy centers (chakras) with Let Your Yoga Dance. You will leave with a good workout and a peaceful happy mind/body/spirit. Good for every body! Registration for each session is required.
