Luís Louro is one of the most celebrated and prolific Portuguese comics artists. In over four decades, Luís Louro published dozens of works and has been receiving growing national and international recognition. His most recent graphic novel, The Children of Baba Yaga, received the Best Work by a Portuguese Comics Artist Award at the 2025 Amadora BD, the most important international comics festival held annually in Portugal. He was also decorated by the President of Portugal in recognition of his 40 years of dedication to comic arts.
At the Cambridge Public Library, Louro will show examples of his art and speak both about the techniques and inspiration for the characters and plots in his work. He will also discuss the Portuguese comic arts scene and collaboration with other parts of the world, in particular the Boston vibrant comics community.
