Cambridge Weekend Traffic Impacts: Street Closures Saturday, May 3 and Sunday, May 4, 2025 in Central Square and Harvard Square

The City of Cambridge is notifying residents, businesses, and visitors of multiple temporary street closures on Saturday, May 3, and Sunday, May 4, 2025, due to scheduled community events including the VIVA CENTRAL Block Party, the CEOC 60th Anniversary Celebration, and the 40th Annual Harvard Square MayFair.

Significant traffic impacts are expected in Central Square and Harvard Square throughout the weekend. Please follow all posted detour signage, plan ahead, and consider using alternative routes or modes of transportation.

Saturday, May 3 from 9 AM – 11 PM: VIVA CENTRAL Block Party

  • Street Closures:
    • State Street from Massachusetts Avenue to Village Street
  • Time of Closure: 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 p.m.

Saturday, May 3 from 12 PM – 5 PM: CEOC 60th Anniversary Celebration

  • Street Closures:
    • Inman Street from Bishop Allen Drive to Massachusetts Avenue
    • Dottie Doyle Way between Inman Street and Bigelow Street
    • Inman Street between Harvard and Bishop Allen Drive (open to abutters only)
    • Bishop Allen Drive between Prospect Street and Inman Street (open to abutters only)
  • Time of Closures: 12:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Sunday, May 4 from 6 AM - 8 PM: 40th Annual Harvard Square MayFair

  • Street Closures:
    • JFK Street from Mt Auburn Street to the Super Crosswalk
    • Brattle Street from Super Crosswalk to Appian Way
    • Entire length of Church Street
    • Massachusetts Avenue from Super Crosswalk to Garden Street (inbound only)
    • Mt Auburn Street from Eliot Street to JFK Street
    • Eliot Street from Brattle Street to Mt Auburn Street
  • Time of Street Closures: 6:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.
