City of Cambridge Department of Veterans’ Services to Host Memorial Day Weekend Observance Events on Saturday, May 27 and Monday, May 29

The City of Cambridge Department of Veterans’ Services (DVS) invites the public to attend three Memorial Day Weekend Observance Events on Saturday, May 27 and Monday, May 29, 2023.

The Cambridge community is invited to assist in the decoration of veterans’ graves with flags on Saturday, May 27, at 9:30 a.m., at Cambridge Cemetery, 76 Coolidge Avenue. The event will include a Reflection at the Cannons at 10:30 a.m., a brief ceremony by the Cemetery main gates, at 11:30 a.m., followed by pizza and refreshments at 12 p.m.

Monday, May 29 Memorial Day Observance
The Memorial Day Observance will be held on Monday, May 29, at 10:30 a.m., on the Cambridge Common,1500 Mass Ave (Warehouse Street and Massachusetts Avenue), in Harvard Square. Cambridge DVS Director, Neil MacInnes-Barker (US Air Force) will serve as Master of Ceremonies. Mayor Sumbul Siddiqui and Deputy City Manager Owen O'Riordan will give the City's greetings. Other City officials will also be participating in the speaking portion of the ceremony. Following the ceremony, from 11:30 - 3 p.m., enjoy a special celebration with family activities honoring Veterans, Police, Fire, and EMS (Emergency Medical Services). Refreshments on food will be free for those in uniform or with proper id.
