Crews will begin mobilizing at 6pm on Monday, August 1st to install final crosswalk and travel lane pavement markings along Amory Street, Sherman Street (from Walden St. to Garden St.), and Fulkerson Street, and work will conclude at 5am the following morning.

Line striping operations will begin on Amory Street at 6pm, then move on to Sherman Street, and finish with Fulkerson Street.

What to Expect During Line Striping:

• “No Parking” signs will be posted along the affected streets. Please be sure to check posted signs for exact date and times.

• Bright lights will be utilized during this nighttime work. Please be sure to close curtains in your home to minimize disruption to you and your family.

Line Striping CANCELED for Monday, July 25th

Due to rain and storms forecast to impact the area tonight, the line striping scheduled for Amory, Sherman, and Fulkerson streets has been canceled.

This line striping work has been rescheduled for next Monday, August 1 with a rain date of Tuesday, August 2.

Residents will receive updated notices this week with more information ahead of Monday’s planned work.

We apologize for the inconvenience and are having the “No Parking” signs in these areas updated to reflect these changes.

In association with the Sherman Street Reconstruction Project, the City’s Contractor, D’Allessandro Corp., will perform final roadway paving on Sherman St (between Walden St and Garden St) on Tuesday, June 14th, weather permitting.

Sherman St. will be closed to traffic from Walden to Garden streets, and vehicle access in and out of properties may be limited at times, however access will be maintained for abutters whenever possible. Please plan vehicle trips accordingly.

During this work, posted “No Parking” signs will be changing often so residents are asked to please take extra care to read posted signs for exact dates and times of restrictions.

Trash/recycling pickup will not be affected and will be collected on their regularly scheduled day.

What to Expect During Construction:
• General work hours will be 7am – 6pm.
• Vehicle access in and out of properties will be limited during work hours. Abutters will be given access whenever possible.
• When work occurs in front of driveways or entryways, the contractor will coordinate access directly with residents and businesses.

On Wednesday, May 25th, crews will be fine grading the roadway in preparation for the base paving and access in and out of properties may be limited at times.

Sherman Street Reconstruction Project
Roadway Reconstruction begins Wednesday, May 11th

In association with the Sherman Street Reconstruction Project, the City’s Contractor, D’Allessandro Corp., will begin to reconstruct the roadway on Sherman St (between Walden St and Garden St) on Wednesday, May 11. This work is anticipated to last for approximately two weeks, weather permitting.

To ensure that the roadway conditions will be favorable for many years to come, crews will engage in full-depth reconstruction. At the end of each day, the contractor will clean the work site to allow for motorists to utilize the roadway. We kindly ask that motorists drive through the construction zone slowly outside of general working hours. Final roadway paving will be scheduled and announced via an additional notice in the coming weeks.

What to Expect During Construction:

  • General work hours 7am-4pm, Monday through Friday.
  • Over the next week two weeks, Sherman St (Walden St to Garden St) will be closed to through traffic during general work hours.
  • Access will be maintained for abutters.
  • The contractor and resident engineers will work with local businesses to minimize any disruption to local deliveries.

Sherman Street Reconstruction Project
Construction schedule - March 24, 2016

Dear Sherman Street Neighbor:

As you may know, the City’s contractor, D’Allessandro Corporation, has begun preparations on Sherman Street for the final phase of the Sherman Street Reconstruction Project. This phase of the project includes street and sidewalk improvements as well as traffic calming measures and is expected to take 2-3 months to complete, weather permitting.

Project Schedule:

  • At the end of March/early April, crews will begin the demolition of sidewalks on the west side of Sherman St. from Walden to Fenno, and then from Winslow St. to the Fire Station.
  • Crews will then set the curbs and sidewalks in these locations. This work is expected to last approximately 3-4 weeks.
  • Once crews complete this work, they will begin the demolition of sidewalks on the east side of Sherman St. from Fenno to Walden, and then from Huron Ave to Fenno.
  • Crews will then set the curbs and sidewalks in these locations. This work is expected to last approximately 3-4 weeks.
  • Once the sidewalks are complete, crews will install the raised crosswalks across Fenno St., Stearns St., and the east side of Sherman St. across Winslow St. This work is expected to last approximately 1-2 weeks.
  • Final roadway reconstruction and paving are expected to occur from mid-May to early June.
  • We will continue to update neighbors as the work progresses.

October 2015

  • Due to unforeseen setbacks and coordination of work with neighboring projects, the timeline for this project has been extended into Spring 2016.
  • All drainage at Sherman Street is expected to be completed followed by water main installation in the next 2-3 months.
  • The third phase of the project will commence in Spring 2016 with the construction of sidewalks and a raised crosswalk.

Sherman Street - Sidewalk/Street Improvements

Construction starts on September 8, 2015

The City has awarded the contract for the reconstruction of Sherman Street to D’Allessandro Corporation. This project includes the installation of new drainage structures, water main replacement, sidewalk reconstruction and roadway paving. During the week of September 7, 2015, the City’s contractor will begin to mobilize to the area to begin the drainage work. Construction activity will continue for approximately 5 weeks, with the roadway paving scheduled for mid/late October 2015.

What to Expect During Construction

  • General work hours will be 7AM to 4 PM, Monday-Friday.
  • “No Parking” signs will be posted at least 24 hours in advance of construction; please be sure to check posted signs for exact dates and times.
  • When work occurs directly in front of driveways or entryways, the contractor will coordinate access directly with residents.
  • At times during the construction Sherman Street will be closed from Walden Street to Huron Avenue to all through traffic, but will remain open for abutters.
  • It is anticipated that the roadway will remain open during the sidewalk reconstruction phase of this project.
  • Residents of Sherman Street will maintain access to their properties throughout construction.
  • City services will continue uninterrupted.
