Agenda for Children
The Agenda for Children, has as its mission to bring together city departments, community-based organizations, businesses, and residents to ensure that the city’s children are healthy and successful in school, while living in strong communities.

 

Cambridge Prevention Coalition
The Cambridge Prevention Coalition provides substance abuse prevention services to youth and parents and substance abuse education to health care professionals. A major focus is reducing underage access to alcohol.

 

Center for Families
The Center for Families of North Cambridge began in 1994 as an initiative of the Kids’ Council. This neighborhood based, school-linked family support program is housed in the Peabody School Community Wing.

 

Childcare & Family Support Services
The Childcare and Family Support Division offers residents the services of 13 Massachusetts Office for Child Care Services licensed childcare programs, all located at public school sites.

 

Commission for Human Service Programs
The Commission advises the City Manager on human services policy issues and funding allocations. Through the Department of Human Service Programs, the Commission also promotes activities that enhance the quality of life for Cambridge residents.

 

Commission for Persons with Disabilities
The Commission for Persons with Disabilities addresses issues of concern to individuals with disabilities and promotes the full integration of people with disabilities into all aspects of Cambridge community life.

 

Community Learning Center
The Community Learning Center provides Adult Basic Education classes, ESOL, reading, writing and math literacy; GED preparation; the Adult Diploma Program and the Pre-College Bridge Program.

 

Community Schools
The Community Schools programs provide a network of neighborhood services offering educational, cultural, social and recreational programs for residents of all ages.

 

Council on Aging
The Council on Aging (COA) offers a variety of benefits and services for Cambridge residents age 60 and over. Many activities take place at the Citywide Senior Center in Central Square and the North Cambridge Senior Center.

 

Food Programs
Food programs available through the City and community organizations include food pantries, community meals and the Summer Food Service Program. These complement programs such as SERVE, food stamps and WIC (Women, Infants, and Children).

 

Fuel Assistance
Fuel Assistance is a seasonal, needs-based program that provides winter heating assistance to residents, based on household size and annual income.

 

Kids' Council
The Kids' Council brings together parents, City officials, community members, and representatives of higher education, business and philanthropic and community organizations to respond to the needs of Cambridge children and their families.

 

Multi Service Center for the Homeless
The Multi-Service Center serves the homeless and those at risk of homelessness through direct casework and referrals for a variety of related services.

 

North Cambridge Crime Task Force
The North Cambridge Crime Task Force (NCCTF) works to enhance neighborhood cohesion and address issues of crime in the community.

 

Office of Workforce Development
The Office of Workforce Development provides information to youth and adult residents about employment, education and training programs in and around Cambridge and oversees the Cambridge Employment Program and the Mayor's Summer Youth Employment Program.

 

Planning & Development
The Planning and Development Division manages numerous grants to Cambridge human service providers, as well as programs operated directly by the City.

 

Recreation
The Recreation Division provides high quality, affordable and accessible recreational opportunities for Cambridge residents of all ages.

 

Youth Programs
The Cambridge Youth Program serves pre-teens and teens at five youth centers. The afterschool preteen leadership program is licensed through the Office of Child Care Services.
