Full-Time Career and Job Opportunity for Cambridge Residents Between 18-23 Years Old

The Cambridge Police Department is currently seeking applicants for its next Cadet class. Designed for Cambridge residents between the ages of 18-23 years old who have an interest in serving the community and potentially pursuing a career in public safety, the Cambridge Police Cadet Program offers a competitive hourly wage ($19.77), 37.5 hours a week, strong benefits, vacation time, and many opportunities to learn about the department and a career in public safety. The deadline to apply for the next Cambridge Police Cadet exam is Friday, June 28, 2024.

Interested residents can download the application, review Cadet responsibilities, and learn more about the program at http://camb.ma/policecadet.

Cambridge Police Cadets are provided with extensive community engagement, classroom training, field assignments, administrative duties, and daily fitness and health training opportunities. Police Cadets become familiar with the daily operations and functions of the department and culture of its community policing-related work through temporary assignments throughout various sections of the department, including the Commissioner’s Office, Patrol Operations, Support Services, and specialized units. As part of the Department, Police Cadets also participate in community outreach activities and frequently engage with residents, businesses, and visitors of the City of Cambridge.

Six Cadets already graduated from the Cambridge-Northeastern Police Academy and became Cambridge Police officers. Two other Cadets are currently in the Cambridge-Northeastern Police Academy and are expected to join the Cambridge Police Department in 2024. Hear from a current Cadet, a former Cadet in the Police Academy, and a former Cadet serving on the Cambridge Police Department.
