The Cambridge Water Department (CWD) is a municipally owned and operated water utility serving approximately 101,000 permanent residents. The department is under the general direction of the City Manager, while a five-member Water Board, made up of Cambridge residents appointed by the City Manager, serves as an advisory group to the Department. The CWD is regulated by Federal and State drinking water codes and is comprised of five major divisions: Administration/Business, Engineering and Program Development, Water Quality and Treatment Operations, Transmission and Distribution and Watershed Protection.
