Storyboarding is the creative stage that Animators use to plan out their cartoons. Storyboards are a series of comic-strip style illustrations that describe all of the acting and cinematography that will appear in a finished animation. Hollywood Legend gives Walt Disney Animation the credit for creating this labor-saving method for visualizing full-length animation. Many animation artists are employed as Storyboard artists in the live-action cinematic industry as well as in animation studios where they provide projects with a plan and creative vision at the start of a motion picture.

Storyboard artists continue to offer support in designing the narrative and environment of a film all the way through its final stages. Characters and stories are designed and perfected through this tool. Whether it is drama or comedy, the exploratory sketches made by Storyboard artists provide a chance to research creative solutions to a cartoon’s storytelling challenges. Story artists’ well-honed skills in observational drawing and character acting enable them to bring a narrative to life.
