beheard.world performs "Invisible Imprints" at Clement Morgan Park basketball court, corner of Columbia Street and Washington Street, Cambridge, on Thursday, July 18, 2019. Free.

The evening begins with a free food at 6 p.m., followed by the free performance at 6:45 p.m. by nine modern and hip hop dancers with three poets led by Anna Myer and Jay Paris. The performance is supported by Cambridge Arts' FLOW grant program. In case of rain, both food and the performance will be held at the Moses Youth Community Center 243 Harvard St., Cambridge.

"Invisible Imprints" is an hour-long piece that explores the embedded psychosocial and racial challenges that permeate life in America. This thoughtful and multidimensional production features nine dancers who mesh their various styles of movement, creating a kinesthetic language influenced by the upbeat energy of hip hop with the alignments of modern dance. Merged with this dynamic group of dancers is a trio of Boston’s top poets whose stories weave simultaneously alongside the movement. While the work looks at issues of race, it also embraces the power of connection and empathy. It is followed by a facilitated discussion with the audience.

The company will also present a free performance of "Watermark" at Sennott Park on the green, Broadway, Cambridge, on Thursday, July 25, 2019. Food served at 6 p.m., followed by performance at 6:45 p.m.

These performance are showing in the Port neighborhood of Cambridge to highlight challenges and opportunities to celebrate our cultural and racial differences. These combined music and dance performances are celebratory and intended for all.
