ParkBoston app will stop working in Cambridge August 15

caution sign The information on this page may be outdated as it was published 2 years ago.

Beginning on August 15, the ParkBoston mobile app will no longer work in Cambridge. At that time, Passport Parking will be the only app that people can use to pay for parking at Cambridge meters.

The Passport Parking app is available for free on the App Store and Google Play. People parking in Cambridge can also pay at meters with quarters or online at passportparking.com.

If Cambridge residents have a ParkBoston account, they can use their ParkBoston login information to sign into the Passport Parking app. All ParkBoston information, including credit card information, will transfer securely to the Passport account. Customers can also use Passport to pay for parking in cities and towns throughout the country, including 10 other Massachusetts communities: Acton, Brookline, Chelsea, Newburyport, Plymouth, Provincetown, Revere, Wellesley, Worcester, and the New Bedford Regional Airport.

The City of Cambridge launched mobile meter payments with the Passport Parking app in 2016. Previously, people parking in Cambridge could also use the ParkBoston because the app used the Passport platform. Now, the City of Boston is transitioning to a new parking app vendor. While their app will still be called “ParkBoston,” it will be run by a different company.
