In order to make parking available to residents and people visiting, doing business in and working in Cambridge, the City operates:
Since the demand for parking in Cambridge exceeds the available supply of spaces, the City encourages turnover of parking spaces with parking meters, pay stations and garage fees and Parking Control Officers monitor all areas to enforce the City's Traffic Regulations.
Residents may park in resident permit parking areas with a resident parking permit. Visitors may park in the resident parking permit area where the house of the Cambridge resident they are visiting is located with the resident's visitor parking permit. Metered parking is found in business areas.
Permits are available for residents who wish to park moving vans, moving containers or crates, dumpsters or trucks being used for construction projects on City streets and for special events or block parties.
