Mindful Moseying: A Gentle Walking Series with Elders in Mind

Meets at Maher Park Soccer Field (650 Concord Ave.)

Join Mindful Outdoor Guide Stefanie Haug and Ranger Tim for a series of walks as we slow down, be attentive to nature with all our senses, and deepen our appreciation for Fresh Pond Reservation.

We will be guided to settle into our bodies and connect with our location and with our group as we then “walk the talk” and slowly explore part of Cambridge together. Our Mindful Outdoor Experience will include: simple warm-up movements, natural history of the area, guided breathing and centering awareness, mindful walking with sensory activities, and finding our nature meditation/sit spot.

There will be invitations to pause, to share reflections and to “soak with our senses” wherever we may find ourselves at that time, both emotionally and physically. You will be supported to explore experience in your own way.

What to bring: Comfortable clothes for a gentle walk with no elevation. Bring a portable seat, if desired. We will look to pause where there is seating.

Wednesday, December 4th

Fresh Pond Nature Walk (Collins Branch Library)

Meets at the Ranger Station (By the Clock Tower 250 Fresh Pond Parkway)

Join us for a relaxing walk of Fresh Pond with Ranger Tim! No two weeks are the same in nature, and Tim will share his insights about what's growing, changing, and blooming in the neighborhood. This walk will meet on-site at Fresh Pond because the Collins Branch Library is currently under construction. This is a winter weather walk so clothing for cold temperatures is suggested. Solstice Celebration: A Farewell to Fall

Meets at the Ranger Station, 250 Fresh Parkway (under the clock tower)

…And a Welcome to Winter! Join Ranger Tim on this (8th annual) guided loop walk around Fresh Pond (2.25-2.5mi) as we explore and take part in the solstice traditions of nature and culture along the way; a great way to jump into the holiday spirit as the sun sets on us. Open to all audiences, no registration necessary. Rain or shine, dress for the weather at hand. tpuopolo@cambridgeMA.gov for questions.
