Water Main Replacement

The Distribution Division of the Water Department is responsible for installing, maintaining and repairing the Transmission and Distribution system. The water distribution system consists of a network of approximately 185 miles of buried pipe, some of which were installed in 1864. The Water Department replaces these pipes based on a series of criteria including age, material, and leak history. In order to increase efficiency, Distribution works closely with the Department of Public Work and utility providers to coordinate work.
