Officers with the Cambridge Police Department made an arrest after a convenience store clerk was slashed in the arm with a utility knife after he attempted to prevent a customer from shoplifting numerous food items this morning at approximately 3:01 a.m. on Massachusetts Avenue.
Tyrick Cannon, 55, homeless, was arrested for Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon after he allegedly slashed the store clerk with a utility knife. Cambridge Police located the suspect in the area of Massachusetts Avenue and Windsor Street and seized the utility knife, which was found in Cannon’s front pocket. The store clerk was treated on-scene by Pro EMS and Cambridge Fire for non-life threatening injuries.
Cannon is expected to be arraigned today in Cambridge District Court.
