Hundreds of friends, family members and city dignitaries gathered in the Kresge Auditorium at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology on Wednesday, May 2, 2018 to honor the admirable work conducted by sworn officers and personnel in the Cambridge Police Department.
More than 15 awards were presented at the ceremony, which was highlighted by the Administrative Award of Merit to five employees who led the Department’s “Drive 2 Support Puerto Rico” and the presentation of the Commissioner’s Letter of Commendation to nine different officers for their role in helping to save the lives of individuals who had overdosed.
Other notable awards were presented to:
- Officer Oral Bynoe, 2017 Patrol Officer of the Year
- Detective Jonathan Russell, 2017 Detective of the Year
- Detective Michael Alpers, 2017 Specialist Officer of the Year
- Sergeant Stanley Gedaminsky, 2017 Superior Officer of the Year
- Alyssa Donovan, 2017 Non-Sworn Employees of the Year
