Cambridge Police were dispatched to the intersection of Massachusetts Avenue and Hancock Street for the report of an assault. A cyclist became upset about a car honking and punched the driver’s side window then went to the back seat where a toddler was sitting and continuously punched the window. The victims were able to get away from the cyclist.

Cambridge Police responded to a Central Square restaurant for the report of a person with a weapon causing a disturbance. The reporting person stated that a male party had brandished a pocket-knife. Upon Officers arrival, the male party was waving a construction hammer at restaurant staff members. The male party continued to wave the hammer after numerous commands by Officers to drop it. Officers were able to safely take the male into custody. A hammer and pocket-knife were recovered. After an investigation, it was revealed that the male had assaulted two restaurant staff members with both a hammer and a knife. The male had also threatened to pull out a firearm and kill staff members. Carlos Portillo, 43, 15 Endicott Avenue in Revere, was placed under arrest and is being charged with Assault with a Dangerous Weapon, Threatened Use of a Firearm, Carrying a Dangerous Weapon, and Disturbing the Peace. It was also discovered that Portillo had a warrant out of Quincy District Court for Operating a Motor Vehicle with a Suspended License.
