Cambridge-Northeastern Police Academy Graduates Fifth Class

The Cambridge Police Department announced that 35 new police officers graduated on Thursday from the fifth Cambridge-Northeastern Police Academy class following a special graduation ceremony that was held at Northeastern University. The graduating officers join their respective departments after successfully completing training, which started in January 2023.

The new officers represented 11 different municipal and university departments from the greater Boston area. In addition to the Cambridge and Northeastern Police Departments, the other participating agencies were from Acton, Ashland, Belmont, Brandeis University, Brookline, Concord, Natick, Newton, and Simmons University.

• Four officers graduated from Cambridge Rindge and Latin School (CRLS).  
• Half of the officers identify as Black or Hispanic.
• Four of the newest officers are women.
• The new officers range between 21-34 years old.
  
  
• Three of the newest officers are bilingual and fluent in Haitian Creole (Jean Guillaume) or Spanish (Daliris Torres and Eric Trickett). Guillaume previously worked in the City of Cambridge in the Traffic, Parking and Transportation Department. He also currently serves in the National Guard, after previously serving in the U.S. Army. Torres had been a Director of Security with Northeast Security. Trickett served as a Shift Manager at Allied Universal.
   
• Officer Devin King-Pierre was the Class Leader, the first woman in the history of the Cambridge-Northeastern Police Academy to be named to that important role. She was previously employed at McLean-Francisan Children’s Hospital in the Community-Based Acute Treatment (CBAT) Program as a Mental Health Specialist and Intake Specialist.
  
  
• Officers Marrae Aiguier and Rockeem Robinson were participants in the Cambridge Police Cadet Program; they are the fifth and sixth Cadets to graduate from the Cambridge-Northeastern Police Academy and join the Cambridge Police Departments since it was reinstated in 2019.
  
  
• Officer Christopher Lombardo had been a Dispatcher with the Cambridge Emergency Communications Department.
  
  
• Christopher Mazzola was a patrol officer at Simmons University Police Department, while Brian Gallagher was a public safety officer at the Cambridge Health Alliance.
  
  
• Officer Eliana Kafantis previously interned in the Cambridge Police Department and was most recently employed at the MIT Police Department, where she was a crime analyst.
  
  

The Cambridge - Northeastern Police Academy is a Massachusetts Police Training Council (MPTC) certified training academy for new student officers. All elements of the Academy experience are aligned with the four pillars of procedural justice: fairness, voice, transparency, and impartiality.  Recruits learn that policing is a “people business” and that their success as officers will depend in great part on their ability to listen to and talk with the community members whom they encounter.  A key element of the training is the focus on experiential learning by having officers engage in scenario-based activities and community outreach.
