Cambridge Police Welcomes New Officers After Transferring to the Department

CAMBRIDGE, Mass., August 23, 2023 -- The Cambridge Police Department recently welcomed five new officers, after they transferred into the Department and were sworn in Friday morning at a small ceremony inside the Robert W. Healy Public Safety Facility. They came from five different departments around Eastern Massachusetts. 

Officer Christina Bagnera has been a Police Officer for 6 years, with experiences as a Detective in the Narcotics Unit and in her most recent role serving as a Patrol Sergeant. 

Officer John Costa, Jr. has served as a Patrol Officer for the past 10 years. He is also a licensed Paramedic, who has served as an MPTC instructor for CPR and taught at the Cambridge-Northeastern Police Academy.

Officer Quaiss Farazi has been a Patrol Officer for 9 years. He has experience as a Field Training Officer and Background Investigator. He is fluent Farsi.
Officer Edward Mejia has been a Patrol Officer for 6 years. He is fluent in Spanish and Portuguese. 

Officer Oscar Rodas recently graduated from the Cambridge-Northeastern Police Academy in 2022. He has served as a Patrol Officer and is fluent in Spanish.

These Officers bring over 30 years of combined experience and diverse personal and professional qualifications that will be of value in our community.
