Mock Trial Training in the Cambridge-Northeastern Police Academy

Testifying in court is one of many skills police officers learn in their training. The Cambridge-Northeastern Police Academy trains with the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office by creating a simulated courtroom experience. Each student officer takes the stand and student assistant district attorneys play the roles of prosecution and defense. There is even a mock judge to overrule and object during the proceeding. The student officers first prepare police reports based on scenarios they respond to during their Applied Patrol Procedure training.

We spent the day in the mock trial training to show you firsthand how it is done.
