Cambridge Police Detective Honored at International Association of Financial Crimes Investigators (IAFCI) Annual Conference

Detective Brian O’Connor is the recipient of the prestigious American Donald D. Drummond International Member of the Year Award. The International Association of Financial Crimes Investigators (IAFCI) recognized Detective O’Connor for his extensive knowledge and expertise in cyber/financial crimes. Detective O’Connor works in Cambridge Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Section with a focus on Financial and Internet Crimes.

Detective O’Connor created the IAFCI Fraud Guide in 2011. What started as an investigator’s guide for new investigators at Cambridge Police. The guide has since expanded and now made available to all IAFCI members. The guide, which has been continually updated by Detective O’Connor, is now more than 250 pages and covers more than a dozen topics including Cyber Crimes, Bank Fraud, Cell Phone and Computer Technology Scams, and current fraud trends. Detective O’Connor was also instrumental in preparing other IAFCI resource guides to assist investigators around the world.

The IAFCI, a non-profit international organization, provides services and an environment within which information about financial fraud, fraud investigation and fraud prevention methods can be collected, exchanged and taught for the common good of the financial payment industry and the global society.
