CPD Participates in 129th Running of Boston Marathon

While the route of the 129th Boston Marathon did not come through Cambridge, members of the CPD were heavily involved with this year’s race.

Two members of our department, Officer Eddie Foster and Lt. Paul Gallagher, along with Lt. Gallagher’s daughter Logan, all ran in the race. The group was part of Team Collier which raises money for the Sean A. Collier Memorial Foundation, established in memory of MIT Police Officer Sean Collier who tragically lost his life in the line of duty on April 18, 2013, in the days following the Boston Marathon Bombing.

In addition to those on the course, many other CPD Officers, along with members of Cambridge Fire and Emergency Communications, were assigned to assist our public safety partners in Brookline. The CPD response included multiple units from within the Tactical Operations Section, including members of the Explosive Ordnance Unit (Bomb Squad), Special Response Team, and Tactical Patrol Force.

A good day was had by all with our members successfully completing the race and an uneventful day for those assigned to safeguard the event.
