Series: Collage Studio (Valente)

Collage is an art form that uses many different materials to create a picture! We will study books that use collage, plan and create our own projects, and host an art opening to share our creative work with family and friends! Session begins Friday, April 26 and runs on Fridays through May 17. This four-week art workshop is for kids ages 8-11. No experience necessary! Registration is required. Participants must attend all sessions and have read “Scraps” by Lois Ehlert before the first session. Stop by the Valente Branch Library to pick up a copy or call 617-349-4015. Mental Health First Aid Training (Main)

Learn How to Support Your Friends, Family, and Neighbors Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) teaches you how to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental health and substance use challenges among adults. You’ll build skills and confidence you need to reach out and provide initial support to those who are struggling. You’ll also learn how to help connect them to appropriate support. After the course you'll be able to: • Recognize common signs and symptoms of mental health challenges. • Recognize common signs and symptoms of substance use challenges. • Understand how to interact with a person in crisis. • Know how to connect a person with help. • Use self-care tools and techniques Registration is required. Hive Safety Training (Main)

Are you interested in using The Hive? In this workshop you will learn about our makerspace, how to utilize the resources we offer and how to keep safe in The Hive. Find out what you need to get started as a maker in The Hive here. Completion of Hive Safety Training is the entry point to making, innovating, and collaborating in this space. Makers must also sign The Hive User Agreement and Waivers.

Family Board Game Afternoon

Challenge your family or meet new friends over board games in the Community Room at Valente. The library will supply games and snacks. No registration is required for this drop-in event. Baby Lapsit (Main)

Just for you and the baby! Enjoy time together with other parents, caregivers and babies to learn, play, and develop language and motor skills. Designed for babies 0 to 18 months. Come prepared to sit on the floor one-on-one with your baby in your lap. This program can accommodate 15 babies and their caregivers. Tickets are available on a first come, first served basis on the day of the program. The entire party must be present to receive a ticket. This program starts promptly. Wellness for Seniors: Zumba Gold (Virtual)

Put on your dancing shoes to improve flexibility and balance, strengthen muscles and have fun! Certified Zumba Gold instructor Emily B. will lead you through 45 minutes of low-impact and easy-to-follow choreography in your own home through Zoom. Join us! STEAM Academy: iFp Studio (Main)

Innovators for Purpose (iFp) Studio is a teen-powered design and innovation program where teens channel their energy and creative vision to imagine and build a better world. Blending art, design, science, technology, and storytelling within a social justice framework, teens engage in real-world client-sponsored projects. Teens are invited to learn more and apply on the iFp website: Innovators for Purpose. Innovators for Purpose (iFp) is a Cambridge-based nonprofit that inspires high-potential, diverse young people to discover their passions, develop innovative mindsets and cultivate marketable skills to solve problems they care most about. Summer Studio teens are funded in part through the Mayor's Summer Youth Employment Program. The Cambridge Public Library STEAM Academy is part of Cambridge STEAM Initiative's efforts to enhance and expand students’ access to quality STEAM learning experiences. CPL Nature Club - Spring Birdwatching (O'Neill)

Join us as we walk to local wildlife hotspot Danehy Park and search for birds! As we explore the urban outdoors, we will discuss birdwatching tips, how to identify an unfamiliar bird and learn a little bit more about the birds we share our outdoor spaces with. A limited supply of binoculars will be available. We will meet inside the O'Neill Branch before walking together to Danehy. Registration required.
