The Cambridge Public Library offers a variety of book discussion groups for adults and kids. Discussions are facilitated by library staff.

Book Groups for Adults

Boudreau Branch Book Group (Boudreau)

This group discusses recent fiction and nonfiction titles that you may have missed the first time around.

Boudreau Branch Mystery Book Group (Boudreau/Virtual)

This group discusses current and classic mystery titles.

Brewery Book Club (Lamplighter Brewing Co.)

Lamplighter and the Cambridge Public Library team up to highlight contemporary works from marginalized voices while having a beer.

Central Square Book Group (Central Square)

This group reads mostly contemporary fiction and nonfiction, with some exploration of older work.

Collins Branch Book Group (Collins)

This group enjoys fiction and nonfiction titles from a variety of authors, genres and decades.

Contemporary Book Group (Main)

The group concentrates on recent fiction and narrative nonfiction.

Cookbook Book Group (Collins)

Join friends and neighbors for a potluck! Try a recipe and bring your results or thoughts to share and discuss with other cooks. All experience levels welcome.

Great Books Book Group (Main)

This group concentrates on Great Books in the following areas: a long novel over the summer, two sections of poetry and short stories, a book of the Bible, a Shakespeare play, an ancient and modern drama, a work of science, a smaller work of fiction, an even smaller work of fiction, and a rotating mix of politics, philosophy and religion.

O'Connell Branch Book Group (O'Connell)

This group reads mostly contemporary fiction and nonfiction, with forays into older works and classics.

O'Neill Branch Book Group (O'Neill)

This group discusses a mixture of fiction and nonfiction books.

Romance Book Group (Main)

If you read romance (or want to start), this group is for you! Teens and adults are welcome.

Science Fiction & Fantasy Book Group (Main)

The group concentrates on science fiction and fantasy.

Valente Branch Book Group (Valente)

This group will meet monthly to discuss a mix of fiction and nonfiction books.

Books Not Binaries Reading Group (Central Square)

Join us for a book discussion and hangout each month as we read books that celebrate the LGBTQIA+ experience. All readers age 10-13 welcome.

Graphics Are Great! Book Group (O'Connell/Virtual)

This group discusses graphic novels. For ages 8-12.

Kids' Books for Everyone (O'Neill/Virtual)

People of all ages who enjoy children's books can read and discuss together.

This group discusses classic fantasy books. For ages 10-14.

This group discusses books from the Magic Tree House series. For ages 5-10.

MCBA Book Group (Central Square)

Read and discuss Massachusetts Children's Book Award (MCBA) nominees. For ages 9-12.

Parent/Child Book Group (Main/Virtual)

Join us for a lively discussion of a great book. For ages 8-12 and a parent or caregiver.
