Cambridge Public Library Collins Branch to Close for Construction

Collins Branch Library

The Collins Branch of the Cambridge Public Library will close on Monday, July 1 for construction with an anticipated reopening in the fall. The branch book return will also be closed during construction. During this time, patrons can use any of the other six Cambridge Public Library locations to check out and return books and attend programs. The Boudreau Branch at 245 Concord Ave. is the nearest location, and all materials on hold at Collins will be transferred there. Find out more about other Library locations here.

Beginning as the Gale Lumber Company, the Collins Branch has been a library since 1936. Detailed with oak accents, the floors, doors, and windows are testaments to the history of the community and neighborhood.

The construction project will involve regrading to improve surface drainage by directing stormwater toward the street. The primary intent is to mitigate moisture infiltration at the Library’s foundation.

Information about the reopening of the Collins branch will be announced as it is available. Patrons can visit the websitesubscribe to the Director’s weekly message, and follow the Library on XInstagram, or Facebook for the most up to date information.
