      Teens, join us for a watercolor workshop at the Valente Branch where you will learn how to put your brush to paper and paint a nature scene! All materials will be provided by the library.       Come to the library in your pajamas to listen to stories, read with your children, and enjoy a snack before bed! This program is recommended for children of all ages and their caregivers. Pajama Story Time is presented by the Cambridge Public Library and the Center for Families.

    • Summer Reading: Bilingual Storytelling (Main)

      Main Library, Curious George Room, 449 Broadway, Cambridge, MA 02138

      Esther Gomez and Karina Liendo present "The Song of Chirimia," a Guatemalan folktale of young man who tries to win the hand of a Mayan princess by making his song as sweet as that of the birds. This bilingual storytime will be presented in Spanish and English and include arts and crafts as well. This program is recommended for children above 5 years old and their caregivers. It can accommodate 45 children, and tickets are available on a first come, first served basis on the day of the program. Funding for Summer Reading has been generously provided by the City of Cambridge, Cambridge Public Library Foundation, Friends of the Cambridge Public Library and Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners

    • Summer Reading: Read to a Dog (O'Connell)

      O'Connell Branch, 48 Sixth St., Cambridge, MA 02141

      Read with Bowie the Therapy Dog from Pets & People! Therapy dogs provide warm and non-judgmental reading companions for new or experienced readers of all ages. Registration for each 10-minute time slot is required and begins a week in advance. Sign up by phone or in person at the O'Connell Branch (617-349-4019).

    • Summer Art Tour: Central Square Edition

      Central Square Branch, 45 Pearl St., Cambridge, MA 02139

      Join Cambridge Arts and the Central Square Library for a tour of the public art in Central Square. Explore public artwork in Central Square and learn about how Cambridge Arts commissions and maintains art for public enjoyment. Meet outside the Central Square Branch in the Martin Luther King Jr. Plaza. This is part of the Library's Summer Art Walks series. We will be strolling on sidewalks within 3/4 miles of Central Square T station.

      Join us for a party and an American Sign Language class rolled into one! SIGNING Basics hosts this excellent event for beginners or people looking to brush up their skills. Get ready to have some fun! Signing Rocks! events are conducted in ASL. Sign language interpreting is not provided; you will learn the vocabulary as you go throughout the class. This program is great for families with kids ages 5+! Registration is recommended. Funding for Summer Reading has been generously provided by the City of Cambridge, Cambridge Public Library Foundation, Friends of the Cambridge Public Library and Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners

    • Cookbook Book Group (Boudreau)

      Boudreau Branch, 245 Concord Ave., Cambridge, MA 02138

      Summer selection: On The Curry Trail by Raghavan Iyer. Join friends and neighbors for a potluck! Try a recipe and bring your results or thoughts to share and discuss with other cooks. All experience levels welcome! No need to bring a dish to join. Books will be available for pick up at the Boudreau Branch.       After the Library closes for the rest of the public on July 25, it's open to Middle Schoolers only! Rising 6th, 7th and 8th graders can come to the Library after hours for pizza, karaoke, t-shirt decorating, slime-making and more. Please register in advance.
