      Let's decorate the O'Connell Reading Garden with colorful chalk art! We’ll provide the chalk, you bring the creativity! For children of all ages and their caregivers.

    • Summer Reading: Patio Project (Valente)

      Valente Branch, 826 Cambridge St., Cambridge, MA 02141

      This event has been moved indoors due to high temperatures. Join us at the Valente Branch Library (826 Cambridge St.) for STEAM activities for all ages! We will be using geometry to build tiny paper towns. In the case of rain, this program will be held inside in the Community Room at the Valente Branch.

      Drop into the Teen Room any Tuesday afternoon this summer and enjoy a variety of FREE activities, from board games to video games, 3D pens, paper crafts, anime, and more. Or just sit down with a great book from our shelves. No registration required.

    • Summer Reading: Stay Cool Craft (Boudreau)

      Boudreau Branch, 245 Concord Ave., Cambridge, MA 02138

      Exercise your creative muscles and give yourself a tool for staying cool with an afternoon of crafting. We will be making beautiful paper fans and other paper folding crafts! No registration required - this is a drop-in event. Recommended for school-age children and their caregivers.

      Calling young adventurers! Ever wanted to learn how to play Dungeons and Dragons? Now's your chance! Patrons ages 9 to 13 can join us at the Valente Branch for an introductory session that will arm them with all the basic rules of the game.     • Summer Reading: LEGO Community Build (O'Neill)

      O'Neill Branch, 70 Rindge Ave., Cambridge, MA 02140

      Join friends at the O'Neill Branch to build, build, BUILD! Let your imagination run wild with LEGOs. The Library has plenty of LEGO pieces, so you don't need to bring your own. For children ages 5 and up. Children under age 7 must be accompanied by a caregiver. LEGO pieces are choking hazards for young children.

    • Summer Reading: Kamishibai Theatre (Central Square)

      Central Square Branch, 45 Pearl St., Cambridge, MA 02139

      Celebrate Tanabata, the star festival, at the library with this Kamishibai performance from Yumi Izuyama. A picture-based storytelling from Japan, Kamishibai combines visual, oral and gestural storytelling methods. This storytime will be followed by a Tanabata based craft. Recommended for children aged 3-8 and their caregivers. Registration is recommended for this program. Funding for Summer Reading has been generously provided by the City of Cambridge, Cambridge Public Library Foundation, Friends of the Cambridge Public Library and Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners

    • Summer Reading: Wildlife Ambassadors with Mass Audubon (O'Neill)

      What better way to learn about wildlife than by observing them in person? Meet wildlife ambassadors and discover the amazing adaptations that help them survive in the wild. Ask questions and learn what you can do to protect the wildlife of Cambridge. For children of all ages and their caregivers. No registration required. This presentation is part of the CPL Nature Club!     • Summer Reading: Fun with Bubbles (O'Neill)

      O'Neill Branch, 70 Rindge Ave., Cambridge, MA 02140

      Join us outdoors to explore and learn with bubbles! We will blow bubbles of all sizes, make bubble wands, and play bubble games! For children of all ages with a caregiver. In case of rain or bad weather there will be modified activities inside the Library.
