TREMONT ST
Cambridge Police responded to Hampshire Street and Norfolk Street in regards to a disturbance. A 911 caller reported seeing two men involved in an altercation. ECC informed responding officers that a male with a baseball bat (white male with a black t-shirt) was chasing a male (wearing a black t-shirt and a yellow-brimmed baseball hat). Officers located the male who was supposedly being chased. The male appeared to be upset and he kept telling officers that he could not wait around and that he had to go to work. Officers told the male to stop and that they needed to speak with him because they were conducting an investigation. The male began walking away from officers at a fast pace, while reaching towards his waistband. The male then took off in a sprint and led officers on a foot chase down Hampshire Street (a busy thoroughfare) and he took a right onto Tremont Street. During the foot pursuit, the male suspect kept reaching towards his waistband (consistent with attempts to conceal a weapon). Officers caught up to the male suspect in the area of Tremont Street. Officers deployed OC spray on the suspect after he refused to show officers his hands and get to the ground. Officers managed to bring the suspect to the ground and were eventually able to place the suspect into handcuffs. While securing the suspect, officers discovered a loaded, large-capacity firearm in his left-pant leg. The suspect does not have a License to Carry Firearms or a Firearms Identification Card. Officers later determined that the initial disturbance began as a road rage incident and that the male suspect threw a rock at the vehicle (causing a dent to the front passenger-side door) of the male with the baseball bat. The male suspect then lifted up his shirt and displayed the black handle of what appeared to be a firearm to the other male, while taunting the male to meet him on a side street and claiming that he would find out where the other male lived. Demitrius Woodson, 22, 88 Auburn Park in Cambridge, was placed under arrest and is being charged with the following offenses: Possession of a Large Capacity Firearm, Carrying a Loaded Firearm Without License, Carrying a Firearm Without License, Disorderly Conduct, Resisting Arrest, Assault with a Dangerous Weapon, and Malicious Damage to a Motor Vehicle.
