Snow Shoveling
Through the Student Shoveler Program, the Office of Workforce Development and Council on Aging work together to match teens who are interested in earning some extra money with older adults and people with disabilities who need assistance clearing snow from their property.
We are recruiting teens to participate in the 2024-2025 Student Shoveler Program. Please fill out this form to apply.
-
Teens specify which neighborhoods in Cambridge they are willing to shovel in.
-
Teens can indicate whether they have a shovel of their own or will need to use the homeowner's.
-
Homeowners are responsible for communicating with students directly. We recommend that homeowners reach out to students before snowfall to confirm the student's availability, payment, and other expectations.
-
Teens and homeowners negotiate directly to set the pay rate for shoveling jobs. Pay for shoveling ranges between $25 to $40 per job, depending on the amount of snow and the size of the area being shoveled.
If you have questions about the program or applying, please reach out to George Hinds, Director of Youth Employment, at ghinds@cambridgema.gov.
