An Inman Street resident reported an extortion attempt. A suspect had called to say he would harm a member of the victim's family unless he was paid $3,000.00. This sort of incident has recently become a common scam.

CEDAR ST
A resident of Cambridge reported that a person posing as a law firm called and stated that if he did not pay off a web loan, the firm would start legal proceedings. The victim paid the person a total of $700.00. The "law firm" called again the next day trying to get more money for court fees. The victim called the law firm directly and they stated that someone has been posing as them and stealing money from people.

The District Sales Manager for a local retail establishment stated that the store conducted a 30 day audit of the Cambridge location, which revealed a loss of $10,654.00 in stolen merchandise or falsified returns by their employees.
