Last week, hundreds of friends, family members and city dignitaries gathered in the Kresge Auditorium at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology to honor the remarkable work done by citizens, personnel, and sworn officers that helped make the City of Cambridge a safer and more welcoming community in 2013.

Over one hundred awards were presented at the ceremony, which was held in honor and remembrance of fallen M.I.T. Officer Sean Collier. In addition to officers with the Cambridge Police, representatives with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Middlesex District Attorney, Cambridge Fire Department, Cambridge Community Center and Marriot Hotel Security received awards.

More than a dozen officers, as well as the Cambridge Police Special Response Team, Explosive Ordnance Unit and Peer Support Team received awards for their heroic work during and following the Boston Marathon bombings.
