Cambridge Police were dispatched to the intersection of Upland Road and Washington Avenue for a report of a motor vehicle disabled in the roadway. BROADWAY
Anthony Medeiros, 29, 298 Brookline Street, Cambridge, was placed under arrest when he was observed by a witness attempting to break into a motor vehicle. Upon an officer's final observations, he was seen by the passenger side door closer to the street and when officers approached him he was by the rear of the trunk, with the trunk open. When officers approached Medeiros, he took off in a sprint in an attempt to evade officers. Medeiros was subsequently placed in custody approximately three blocks from where he was initially observed. A search incident to arrest Medeiros resulted in two knives and a leather man tool being discovered, a credit card that was not in his name (later discovered reported lost/stolen on 6/25/2014) along with numerous capped needles. Upon closer examination of the vehicle that Medeiros fled from, officers observed the bottom portion of the steering column exposed, and the bottom portion of the ignition exposed.
