The Cambridge Police Department will join law enforcement agencies from around the world and take part in the third “Global Police Tweet-A-Thon” on Friday, June 27.
@CambridgePolice and all participating agencies will use the hashtag #poltwt to create awareness about police work and promote the use of social media in policing.
“Twitter and our other social media networks are key components of our communications strategy and have proven to be valuable tools in communicating important information to the public in a timely manner,” said Cambridge Police Commissioner Robert C. Haas. “This tweet-a-thon will give citizens an opportunity to see how the Cambridge Police and other law enforcement agencies use social media to inform, educate and even occasionally entertain citizens.”
Recently, the Cambridge Police Department was recognized as having the fifth largest Twitter following for all U.S. police agencies with less than 1,000 sworn officers.
In addition to following @CambridgePolice on Twitter at www.twitter.com/CambridgePolice, the public can follow the Cambridge Police on Facebook at www.facebook.com/CambridgePolice, on YouTube at www.youtube.com/CambridgePolice, and on Instagram at www.instagram.com/CambridgePolice.
