Officers from the Cambridge Police Department will be transforming two parking spaces into the “Cambridge Police Safety Zone” as part of the City of Cambridge’s third annual PARK(ing) Day festivities on Friday, September 19 from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. in Harvard Square just outside 64 Brattle Street.
Officers from the Explosive Ordinance, Traffic Enforcement and Community Relations Units will be on-hand and participate in a variety of exercises to give residents a first-hand view of their day-to-day operations. Bomb detection demonstrations with police K-9s Dixie and Tango, DUI testing and RADAR demonstrations will be among the featured activities. Preliminary bicycle tune-ups will also be available, as will child passenger safety seat installations and checks. A number of resources will be provided to residents, who will be able to subscribe to the City’s Alert Network, including CodeRed, Citizen Observer notifications and the MyPD app on site.
