Beverly Stewart, 61, 161 Pearl Street, Cambridge, was placed under arrest for assaulting a young student by slapping him in the face for no reason. Also, Stewart was charged with Assault and Battery after striking a police officer with a closed fist.

Brian Moske, 23, 29 Thacher Street in Boston, was observed operating a motor vehicle in a negligent manner, almost striking a pedestrian crossing Massachusetts Ave. A subsequent motor vehicle stop involving Moske resulted in detecting an odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from his breathe and persons. Moske's eyes appeared to be glassy and Moske possessed slurred speech. Moske was administered three standard field sobriety tests, which he performed poorly on all. Moske was subsequently placed under arrest for OUI alcohol (90/24J), negligent operation of a m/v (90/24E). Inventory search of Moske's vehicle resulted in discovering 2 open alcohol containers. A charge of open container of alcohol (90/24I) was added. Moske was transported to the Cambridge Police Department where he was booked and processed in the usual manner.

A resident of Cambridge was struck by a motor vehicle while riding his bicycle. The accident occurred at the intersection of Prospect Street and Harvard Street. The vehicle that hit the cyclist fled the accident scene after the accident occurred.

The victim was with a female friend and believes that the suspect was a male acquaintance of hers. The victim was kicked with a shod foot, but did not report any injuries.

Loss Prevention personnel contacted Cambridge Police after observing and following two male suspects shoplifting from their store at Cambridgeside Place. The suspect that had stolen the merchandise was able to elude Loss Prevention personnel after exiting the store and handing over stolen property to another male who was waiting outside. Loss Prevention personnel states that same suspect has shoplifted at this store in the past.

An employee of a Rogers Street business states on 1/7/15 they received an email from another company claiming to be a government agency that provides grants. The email requested to have the company’s bank information in order to renew a current grant. A voided bank check was faxed to a number that was provided in the original email requesting the company’s bank information. It was later discovered that the company does not have a grant through the suspect company in question. No funds have been removed from the company’s bank account at this point in time.

A Somerville resident was issued a criminal summons for Operating a Motor Vehicle with Revoked Registration, Operating an Uninsured Motor Vehicle, and Failure to Inspect Motor Vehicle after he was observed operating a vehicle registered to him with an expired inspection sticker. A routine check of his information revealed the vehicle's registration was revoked for insurance purposes.

A Thorndike Street resident reported having received three phone calls from the same number claiming the victim had a warrant for her arrest out of Washington D.C. related to back taxes. Recognizing this as a potential scam the victim hung up the phone. The victim immediately received another call from the same phone number chastising the victim for hanging up on him. The person told the victim he needed to verify their information and the victim hung up again.
