A Belmont resident states that at or around 1 p.m. on 5/12/15, a person(s) unknown to them operating an unknown motor vehicle struck a vehicle that he was in custody of while it was parked at Massachusetts Ave. The vehicle sustained two dents to the trunk area. The operator left no information and did not identify themselves or their vehicle.

A Malcolm Road resident states he was struck by a late model Honda CRV (white) on 5/13 at 8:30 a.m, while he was crossing Mt. Auburn Street at Sparks Street. The vehicle fled without stopping. The injured party sustained minor injuries.

GORE ST
Cambridge Police along with Cambridge Fire and EMTs responded to Gore Street near Lambert Street for a motor vehicle accident between a passenger car and a bicyclist. On location, it was discovered that a bicyclist collided into a motor vehicle after the bicyclist went around a stopped delivery truck, which had stopped to allow a vehicle to exit a building's parking lot. The bicyclist sustained a minor non-life-threatening arm injury and was medically evaluated on-scene.

Cambridge Police responded to a CambridgeSide Place business for a report of a shoplifting. Nicholas Murphy, 38, from 81 Bowker Street in Boston, was arrested for shoplifting merchandise valued under $100. Employees observed Murphy remove a pair of wireless headphones from the shelf and conceal the headphones underneath his sweatshirt. He was then stopped after attempting to leave the store making no attempt to pay for the item.

A call was received for an abandoned bag containing a pressure cooker inside a lobby at Windsor Street. The pressure cooker was checked by an explosive detection K-9 and a bomb technician. It was learned that
a cooking class was held earlier at that location The pressure cooker was determined to be safe. The items were logged in to the property room at the police station.

At approximately 7:20 p.m. this evening a resident of Rhode Island reports that he was struck in his car by another car in the area of Mass Avenue. The operator of the other motor vehicle hastily provided her license information to the reporting person and failed to remain on scene and wait for the police to respond. Reports were filed and the Accident Investigations section will conduct a follow up.

FRANKLIN ST
Stephen Pennington, 53, homeless of Cambridge, was placed under arrest for possessing an open container of alcohol in public and trespassing after notice. Pennington was observed, by officers, in a closed park with a clearly posted no trespassing sign, clutching an open bottle of vodka in his arms.
