Suspect Arrested by Cambridge Police Following Stabbing in Central Square; B&E Suspect Arrested in Separate Incident

The Cambridge Police Department made a pair of notable arrests early Saturday morning.

The first arrest occurred after a Cambridge resident was stabbed in the stomach following an altercation at approximately 11:15 p.m. at Hancock Street and Massachusetts Avenue. Frank Fraumeni, 65, from 174 White Street in Belmont, was arrested for Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon and Assault to Murder early Saturday morning after he stabbed the victim and fled in a vehicle. Cambridge Police located the victim lying and bleeding. Officers provided initial aid and the victim was later transported to a local hospital after suffering serious injuries. Fraumeni was soon stopped by officers at Harvard Street. A witness at the scene of the stabbing identified Fraumeni as the suspect. 

The second incident occurred at approximately 1:25 a.m., when Cambridge Police responded to the report of a Breaking & Entering in progress. Upon arrival, a male -- later identified as Paul McGarty, 44, from 1715 Massachusetts Avenue in Cambridge -- was standing at a Massachusetts Avenue residence with blood and plaster on his hands. While being questioned about broken window frames and screens, McGarty became very agitated and uncooperative. He was then arrested for Malicious Destruction of Property, Breaking & Entering and Disorderly Conduct.

The details contained above are allegations.  The suspect is presumed to be innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
