Officers from the Cambridge Police Department, firefighters from the Cambridge Fire Department, paramedics from PRO EMS, dispatchers from the Cambridge Emergency Communications Department and members of the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) will transform two parking spaces into an interactive public safety zone as part of the City of Cambridge’s fourth annual PARK(ing) Day festivities on Friday, September 18 from 8:30 a.m. - 2 p.m. at Mass Ave: Porter-North.

Officers from the Cambridge Police Department’s Explosive Ordinance, Traffic Enforcement and Community Relations Units will be on-hand and participate in a variety of exercises to give residents a first-hand view of their day-to-day operations.  Bomb detection demonstrations with police bomb dogs and safety seat inspection/installation sign-ups will be among the featured items.

Meanwhile, the Cambridge Fire Department and PRO EMS will be conducting hands-only CPR training to participants. As part of Emergency Preparedness Month, MEMA will also be on hand with an emergency preparedness trivia wheel. And, a number of resources will be provided to residents, who will be able to subscribe to the City’s Alert Network, including CodeRed, Citizen Observer notifications and the MyPD app on-site.
