Law enforcement from around the country will meet in Cambridge, Massachusetts on October 5-7, 2015 to discuss how the latest emerging technologies present both solutions and challenges for public safety officials. Through workshops, moderated panels, discussion groups and keynote addresses, police will explore ways they can work with the latest developments in technology to improve their communities and advance their crime-fighting abilities.

The Police Innovation Conference is designed to bring together progressive law enforcement agencies from across the country with some of the great minds in technology and policing. Conference-goers will attend sessions where members of academia, the private sector, and fellow law enforcement agencies will share their expertise and ideas.

“The Cambridge Police Department is once again proud to host the Police Innovation Conference along with WiredBlue and Microsoft,” said Cambridge Police Commissioner Robert C. Haas. “I’m confident that participating law enforcement partners will leave the City of Cambridge with a greater knowledge and understanding of the latest innovative technologies that will influence the future of policing.”

Some of the presenting companies, universities, and organizations include Harvard’s Berkman Center, Green Bay Police Department, Microsoft, Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s (MIT) Lincoln Laboratories, iRobot, CyPhy Works, Texas A&M, Polaris eBikes, Cambridge Police Department, Bounce Imaging, Fairfax County Police Department, Brainwave Science, and the Sunlight Foundation.

“Our goal with the second police conference is to provide leading-edge content, an ambitious agenda, and a unique technology venue,” said Peter Olson, the founder of WireBlue and conference organizer. “Cambridge is a top tech location and the Microsoft building offers police a more exciting and conducive venue than a typical police conference.”

The conference aims to become a regular event which brings about discussions on the hottest trends and latest innovations from both police departments and private sector companies.

“Microsoft is excited to welcome leading law enforcement officials to the innovation hub of Cambridge,” said Brian Burke, Senior Director, State Government Affairs at Microsoft. “Microsoft is a committed technology partner with law enforcement agencies across the country and we’re looking forward to sharing how Microsoft can help police departments innovate and securely manage their data.”
