Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan and Cambridge Police Commissioner Robert C. Haas have announced that Antwan Gonsalves, 33, of Cambridge, was arraigned on the charge of murder in Cambridge District Court today in connection with the September 12 death of Tywann Jones.

Judge Michele Hogan set bail at $7.5 million cash with a $750,000 surety. The next scheduled hearing in this case is Wednesday, November 4.

“This case demonstrates the importance of members of the public coming forward to assist law enforcement,” said District Attorney Marian Ryan “In part, as a result of the public’s cooperation with law enforcement the defendant is now in custody. Additionally, effective collaboration between the Massachusetts State Police assigned to our office and the Cambridge Police Department led to today’s arraignment. Our thoughts are with the family and friends of Tywann Jones as we move forward in our prosecution of Antwan Gonsalves.”

“We take any homicide very personally and diligently worked around the clock to bring some level of closure to the victim’s family and community,” said Cambridge Police Commissioner Robert C. Haas. “I am very proud of the effective work conducted by our detectives and investigators from the District Attorney’s Office on this case, and continue to be pleased with the cooperation we received from the community. This arrest once again demonstrates that with collaboration, we can expedite an investigation and quickly bring forth justice.”
