UPDATE: 3/3/16 - 5:42 p.m. 

Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan and Cambridge Police Commissioner Robert Haas have announced that they have located the suspect vehicle in connection with a hit-and-run crash involving an individual in a wheelchair early Sunday morning at approximately 4:40 a.m.  They have also identified a Somerville resident as the driver of the car. This remains an open and active investigation and no charges have yet been filed.

ORIGINAL RELEASE: 3/2/16 - 3:25 p.m. 

The Cambridge Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the driver of a vehicle that fled a hit-and-run crash involving an individual in a wheelchair early Sunday morning at approximately 4:40 a.m.  


A 77-year-old Cambridge woman was struck while traveling in her wheelchair on the southbound lane of Columbia Street near Lincoln Street. The victim sustained serious injuries, was transported to a local hospital and remains in critical condition. 

The driver fled the area northbound after the crash in the direction of Somerville via Webster Avenue and Prospect Street.  The vehicle is described as a 1996-1999 green (possibly blue) Ford Taurus. The vehicle is believed to have sustained front-end damage to the bumper, headlight and possibly the hood. The driver was the only occupant in the vehicle at the time of the incident. A description of the suspect is not available at this time.
