Cambridge Police to Conduct Car Seat Checks and Installations During Child Passenger Safety Week

As part of Child Passenger Safety Week (September 18-24) and National Seat Check Saturday (September 24), the Cambridge Police Department will be conducting child seat inspections and installations at this Saturday’s Danehy Park Family Day and next Saturday’s Port Community Pride Day. In order to have a child’s car seat inspected or installed, residents are encouraged to make a reservation prior to the event. Reservations can be made by visiting http://camb.ma/CPDCarSeats or calling 617-349-4365. Each inspection or installation will be handled by a certified police officer and will take approximately 45 minutes.  

Safety seat inspections or installations are free and open to the public.  Seat Inspection/Installation Dates/Times:

  • Danehy Park Family Day on Saturday, September 19th from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. (St. Peter’s Field Parking Lot)
  • The Port Community Pride Day on Saturday, September 24th from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. at 119 Windsor St.
Cambridge Police will also be making reservations at PARK(ing) Day on Friday, September 18th from 8-2:30 p.m. in Kendall Square.


Car crashes are a leading cause of death for children 1-13 years old. Many deaths and injuries can be prevented by proper use of car seats, boosters and seat belts.
