Nearly 100 parking spots will be turned into parks, separated bike lanes, mini-libraries and much more on Friday, September 16 as part of Cambridge PARK(ing) Day. Five of those spaces will be converted by the Cambridge Police, Fire, Emergency Communications Departments, along with Pro EMS and MEMA (Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency), into a public safety obstacle course. Officials from all five organizations invite the public to participate in the obstacle course, which will feature mini-challenges from each agency. All participants will receive a prize for completing the course and will be eligible to receive a grand prize, which includes tours of the public safety facilities, a ride-along with the fire department and private firearms simulator training. In addition to the obstacle course and prizes, visitors will have an opportunity to learn how to build an emergency safety kit, sign up for public safety alert notifications, and schedule a child seat inspection or installation.

“Experience Cambridge Public Safety” will be located on Third Street between Binney and Broadway between 8 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. on Friday, September 16th.

More information on PARK(ing) Day is available at www.cambridgema.gov/parkingday. You can also follow the agency social media accounts on Friday by using the hashtag #CambMAParkingDay.
