On September 7, 2016, Cambridge Police arrested Merlin Ronan Ordonez, age 52, at a work location on Walden Street in Cambridge. Members of the United States Marshals Fugitive Task Force had just missed arresting Ordonez in Marlborough, MA where he had been residing. Once his current location in Cambridge was determined, Task Force members immediately called Cambridge Police for assistance in making the arrest.
Ordonez was wanted in Fairfax County, Virginia on a warrant from October of 2014. He was charged with Aggravated Sexual Battery of a 5 year old girl. Ordonez fled Virginia after the warrant was issued and relocated in Marlborough, MA. US Marshals investigators in Virginia requested assistance of the Fugitive Task Force in Boston in pinpointing Ordonez’s location in the Marlborough area.
“Today, I want to commend the deputies of the U.S. Marshals Service and the officers of the Cambridge Police Department for their dedicated efforts on this fugitive case. It is our utmost priority to target violent criminals who commit crimes in other jurisdictions and then flee to the Commonwealth of Massachusetts in order to avoid prosecution” said John Gibbons, U.S. Marshal for the District of Massachusetts.
Ordonez was charged by Cambridge Police as a fugitive from justice to be removed to Virginia. Immigration and Customs Enforcement lodged a detainer on Ordonez once it was determined he was illegally in the United States. Ordonez is a native of Honduras.
