Loreta Ruiz, 44, out of 41 Cushing Street, Cambridge MA was arrested for
Disorderly Conduct, Assault and Battery on a Police Officer, and Resisting
Arrest. Cambridge Police responded to the corner of Massachusetts Avenue and
Pleasant Street for a homeless female in need of medical attention. At the
scene, EMTs were attempting to render medical attention to the homeless
female when Ruiz became belligerent and confrontational, interfering with EMT
duties. Cambridge Police arrived to assist them in removing Ruiz out of the
area so they can perform their duties. Ruiz was asked to vacate the immediate
area when she refused and shoved police. Ruiz became hostile and violent
towards police. Ruiz was advised that she was under arrest. During the
process of custody, Ruiz refused to place her hands behind her back, and after
a short struggle, she was subsequently subdued without incident.
