ELM STREET

At approximately 1:47 a.m., Cambridge Police observed a vehicle swerving dangerously. The vehicle was stopped and the operator, Andres Lopez, 54, 145 Morse Street, Watertown, MA was subjected to a field sobriety test. Lopez was placed under arrest for Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence of Alcohol after officers observed multiple clues during the tests that provided sufficient probable cause. While at the station, Mr. Lopez was subjected to a breathalyzer test and given multiple chances but ultimately refused to take the test. Mr. Lopez was charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence of Alcohol.

At approximately 2:10 a.m., Cambridge Police responded to JFK Street between Brattle and Mt. Auburn for a reported assault in progress. Upon arrival the victim was located and provided with medical aid. Officers searched the area but were unable to locate the assailants. A report was taken.

At approximately 12:17 a.m., Cambridge Police responded to the area of Cambridge Street and Fifth Street on the report of gun shots. Upon arrival, it was confirmed that a shooting did take place at this location. A gunshot victim was subsequently located along with a motor vehicle that had been struck by a bullet.

Cambridge Police responded to the area of Cherry Street for multiple gunshots being fired. A few minutes later a victim with a gunshot wound to the arm was located a short distance away. Numerous motor vehicles and dwellings were struck and damaged by the ballistic projectiles.

Police responded to Green St. for the report of an assault in progress. Upon arrival, Police were directed to the victim, who stated that Howard Richards, 30, homeless, punched him in the face multiple times and when he fell to the ground, Richards kicked him multiple times in the face and side. Richards was wearing closed toe shoes at the time of the assault and was charged with Assault with a Dangerous Weapon. Richards was identified by the victim and witness at the scene, taken into custody and transported to the station via the wagon without incident.
