BERKSHIRE STREET

Officers responded to the area of Berkshire Street and York Street for a report of a fight. Upon arrival, several of the involved parties had fled, and those that remained did not wish to press charges. None of the parties required medical treatment.

Officers responded to the intersection of Broadway and Ellery Street for a report of a crash involving three vehicles. One of the involved parties was evaluated by ambulance personnel for neck pain but did not require transportation to the hospital. The other two parties refused medical attention.

A resident of Sidney Street reported a breaking and entering to her apartment while she was out of town for the past month. Items were missing from her residence and several items that did not belong to her were present. The air conditioning was also on, although the reporting party stated she had turned it off before her trip. The reporting party believes the suspect(s) had been residing in her apartment while she was away.

A resident of Cambridge reported several attempted incidences of identity fraud that had been made against him sporadically over the past year. An unknown suspect had acquired the reporting party’s personal information and attempted to open credit lines with a number of institutions. None of the attempts have been successful and the reporting party has suffered no financial losses, but was advised to obtain a police report to update his credit report.

Officers observed a male sleeping at a Central Square bus stop with an open container and other beers on his person. After identifying this individual, officers arrested David Cunningham, 56, 240 Albany Street in Cambridge, on warrants out of Waltham District Court for Trespass.

MASSACHUSETTS AVENUE

A male suspect was observed by loss prevention officers concealing merchandise in his backpack in a Central Square business. When confronted, the suspect punched a loss prevention officer and fled on a bicycle. Officers observed an individual matching the suspect’s description a short time later, and this individual was positively identified by both of the store’s loss prevention officers, including the victim of the assault. Stephen Simpson, 46, 112 Southampton Street in Boston, was placed under arrest for Larceny Over $1200 and Assault and Battery.

A manager of a coffee shop on Massachusetts Avenue reported a theft of a tip jar containing $10 in cash. An unknown male suspect stole the jar between approximately 5:25 and 5:50 p.m.

An individual called 911 to report witnessing a hit and run crash on Massachusetts Avenue. The witness observed the driver of a vehicle clip a parked vehicle and flee without making themselves known. The owner of the damaged vehicle was notified.

A Cambridge resident reported a case of identity fraud. The victim was unable to apply for a credit card due to an outstanding debt made in his name by an unknown suspect. The suspect has run up a debt of $39,000 on an account with a phone service provider since May of 2018.

A resident of River Street reported a breaking and entering that occurred at approximately 8:30 p.m. An unknown suspect gained access to the residence through a window and stole a MacBook Pro laptop.
