Cambridge Police Hires Recovery Coach after Grant Concludes

The Cambridge Police Department today announced that it has hired Jared Stanley, as a part-time Recovery Coach. Stanley initially joined the Department in March 2018 through an AmeriCorps grant from the Police Assisted Addiction and Recovery Initiative (P.A.A.R.I.), as well as a grant from the Department of Emergency Medicine at the Cambridge Health Alliance. He was hired by the City following the conclusion of those grants.

Stanley has become an integral part of the Department’s innovative PARTNER (Providing Access to Resources, Treatment Needs, and Education for Recovery) Initiative, which supports families and their loved ones who struggle with substance abuse disorders. During his brief time with the Department, approximately 25 people struggling with addiction have accepted referrals to detox directly as a result of Stanley’s efforts. In addition, he is currently working on an ongoing basis with approximately 12 individuals, who live or work in the city and are in the process of recovery. By providing regular check-ins and being a supportive resource, they have managed to remain in recovery.

Stanley has become an important extension of our Opioid Response Team, and can uniquely relate to what our clients are going through.”
